Manufactured by the India Rubber Gutta Percha & Telegraph Works for the Mexican Telegraph Company, this cable was laid in 1881 by CS Dacia and CS International. Running from Galveston - Tampico - Vera Cruz, the total cable length was 738 nm. In 1882 this cable connected with the new cable of the Central & South American Telegraph Company, extending the system to Peru. |
